Typographic Self-Portrait
This typographic self-portrait is entirely created from type (using my favorite quote at the time), except for the outline of my hair, which is used to enforce contrast and fill in the space in between the text.
The Quote: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”

Typographical Book Cover Design
A Typographical Book Cover Design of a brain shape created from type for Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. Pink was used for the brain for authenticity, and the black for “OUT” was used for emphasis of contrast, as “of My Mind” is white and positioned inside the brain shape. The falling letters are used for visual movement to represent going out of your mind.
Helvetica Williams
A typeface variation of the typeface Helvetica created by exploring the counters of some letters. In playing around with the letter “n” and its anchor points on the bottom, the open counter closed and created a tear-drop shape that I later incorporated in many of the letters. There were some letters where this wouldn’t work, and I needed another consistent design choice to differentiate the letters from the original type. Thus, the open space inside the stems of the appropriate letters.
